Wat doen de kinderen op CON de Wereldschool?
De activiteiten binnen de school:

- Technisch en begrijpend lezen

- Bewegingsonderwijs (gym)
- TeamUp: sociaal-emotionele ontwikkeling*
Binnen onze school hebben wij een doorgaande lijn neergezet op het gebied van sociaal emotioneel leren inclusief burgerschap. Binnen de leerlijn maken wij gebruik van de methodes TeamUp, Wereldreiziger en doos vol gevoelens. Burgerschapsvorming op de Wereldschool is het vormen van leerlingen die actief weten mee te doen aan de Nederlandse samenleving en hier een positieve bijdrage weten te leveren aan de samenleving. Het is geen apart vak, maar wij zien het wel als een van de taken van onze school.
*TeamUp is een non-verbale methode gericht op het stimuleren van de sociaal-emotionele ontwikkeling van kinderen binnen het (nieuwkomers)onderwijs.
Hoe volgen wij de leerlingen?
Iedere 13 weken beschrijft de leerkracht in het ontwikkelingsperspectief de vorderingen en de sociaal emotionele ontwikkeling van het kind. Als de ontwikkeling sneller of langzamer gaat dan verwacht, dan bespreekt de leerkracht dit met de kwaliteitscoördinator. Daarna past de leerkracht de doelen, de lesstof, de instructie en de aanpak aan. De leerkracht bespreekt dit met ouders.
Externe ondersteuning
Als blijkt dat een kind hulp nodig heeft voor bij de uitspraak van de taal, motoriek of andere problematieken, dan kunnen wij externe hulp inschakelen. Natuurlijk wordt deze hulpvraag eerst met ouders besproken. De extra hulp kan binnen de school en buiten de school plaatsvinden. Binnen onze school werken wij samen met: Logopedist, Jeugdprofessional, Psychomotorische kindertherapie en Kinderfysiotherapie. Buiten de school werken wij samen met onder andere: Centrum voor Jeugd en Gezin (CJG), speciaal (basis)onderwijs, logopedie, Leerrecht, (nieuwkomers)scholen in de regio, opleidingsscholen, gemeente Schiedam, LOWAN en partners in de Kansenfabriek.
What do the children do at CON de Wereldschool?

Within our school, we have established a continuous framework for social-emotional learning, including citizenship education. In our curriculum, we use the methods TeamUp, Wereldreiziger, and Doos vol Gevoelens. Citizenship education at the Wereldschool involves shaping students to actively participate in Dutch society and make a positive contribution to it. It is not a separate subject, but we do consider it one of the responsibilities of our school.
*TeamUp is a non-verbal method aimed at stimulating the socio-emotional development of children within (newcomer) education.
How do we monitor the students?
Every 13 weeks, the teacher describes in the developmental perspective the progress and socio-emotional development of the child. If the development is faster or slower than expected, the teacher discusses this with the quality coordinator. Then, the teacher adjusts the goals, curriculum, instruction, and approach. The teacher discusses this with parents.
External support
If it turns out that a child needs help with pronunciation, motor skills, or other issues, we can enlist external help. Of course, this need for help is first discussed with parents. The extra help can take place inside and outside the school. Within our school, we collaborate with: Speech therapist, Youth professional, Psychomotor child therapy, and Pediatric physiotherapy. Outside the school, we collaborate with, among others: Center for Youth and Family (CJG), special (primary) education, speech therapy, Right to Education (Leerrecht), (newcomer) schools in the region, training schools, Schiedam municipality, LOWAN, and partners in the Kansenfabriek.
